COCONUT CRAB.
Coconut crab. Locally known as Tatus, coconut crab is found only in Batanes. They feed on young coconut husks and grow way bigger that the usual crabs. The crab meat is very oily, but if you love sea food, this is a must try!

Adobo with Palek
Palek refers to the Batanes wine. And this local wine is used to cook an adobo with an Ivatan twist. Instead of vinegar, locals use Palek to add flavor. Interestingly, the wine does not give the dish a bitter taste. It only adds up to the flavor.
A trip to Batanes would not be complete without trying this Ivatan dish. Bunker Café is popular for serving this. The restaurant is located right in front of the Basco Lighthouse. So you will not just enjoy the food, you will also enjoy the magnificent view!
